Joe Doyle
Joe Doyle is a leading criminal lawyer with a broad range of experience in the defense and prosecution of high profile criminal matters, including, most recently, R. v. Basi. He has litigated cases in all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition, Mr. Doyle has significant experience representing clients in trial and appellate civil litigation involving commercial, general and insurance-related disputes. He has also appeared frequently before tribunals, boards and authorities (and upon judicial review of these administrative decisions) in a range of disciplinary contexts – a representative case being the Braidwood Commissions of Inquiry.
Mr. Doyle has served the legal profession in a variety of noteworthy capacities: as Vancouver Bar Association (VBA) Vice-President, 2003; VBA President, 2004; and as VBA Past-President, 2005. He has also served as an elected member of the Provincial Council of the BC Branch of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA) from 2000 to 2003 and as a member of the CBA’s Advisory Committee to Judicial Council from 2002 to 2005. For several years, Mr. Doyle has also contributed as an editor of sections of the BC Law Society’s Practice Checklist Manual.

Recently, Mr. Doyle participated as an instructor in the Burns Moot Program at UBC. In his spare time, he enjoys coaching hockey, soccer and baseball.
